T. Albert Lloyd

A knock on the door of his family home, a music teacher asking if anyone wanted music lessons – that’s how it started. T. Albert’s choices were guitar, saxophone, and accordion. After hearing bands in homes in his neighborhood, he knew the guitar was the instrument he wanted to play. At the age of 8, he began music lessons. After sneaking out of the house at age 13, T. Albert went to see Jimi Hendrix perform at the Electric Factory in Philly. It changed his life seeing what could be done with a guitar. He saw, even then, how a guitar can touch people. That lesson was honed as he became more experienced while playing with a variety of band from age 13 on.  Whether listening to or performing a Jimi Hendrix tune, T. Albert watched and learned. Throughout his car performing in everything from trios to 20 piece horn orchestras, T. Albert sponged up the dynamics.  After decades of performing “I learned something from every great artist I’ve heard or seen, trying to emulate and stylistically add dimensions to my playing”.  He also began to write music, performing his first original songs with the Hightimes Band, a power funk trio. His composing abilities came from ideas that moved him, often writing the music first with a feel that came from the idea, later refining the lyrics. He writes of injustice, heartbreak, joy and triumph – all accompanied by melodic riffs and complex rhythm patterns – a little rock, a little funk, a little blues and a little jazz.  He draws out each performance as he rocks them blues. He doesn’t stop there. Known for his pure tone, the melodies and solos touch people.  “I want that pure tone so when I play, I reach inside and touch you. My guitar becomes my voice, and I play my notes with passion, soul and heart.”

Curley Taylor

Curley Taylor was born and raised in Louisiana and has been around music all of his life. At the age of 16 Curley started playing drums in his father's band, (Jude Taylor & His Burning Flames) which is deep in Louisiana Blues, Soul and Zydeco.

By the age of 25, Curley had played drums for some of Louisiana's finest legends including: CC Adcock, Steve Riley, John Hart, "Lil" Bob of the Lollipops, and his uncles, "Lil Buck" Senegal and Wayne "Blue" Burns. He traveled with CJ Chenier, also considered a great Louisiana legend. While traveling with Mr. Chenier, Curley found an interest in playing the accordion. After practicing and playing the accordion, Curley enjoyed it. He was told he "played the drums and the accordion with great emotion and natural feeling."

Curley purchased an accordion and learned to play it in about six months. During this time, friends Keith Clements (keyboard player) and Erick Minix (drummer) approached Curley and asked him to start his own band. He agreed. Soon after agreeing to record a CD, Geno Delafose offered Curley a job playing the drums in his band, Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie. He began working for Mr. Delafose and worked for him for several years. Curley found it hard to practice while traveling and touring, but found a way to produce his first CD Country Boy.

This CD is Curley's first produced project. Artists have compared his music to the great Beau Jocque. "It's a high compliment," Curley said, "but this is only the start." Look forward to Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble coming to a town near you soon!

TATERZ

Taterz will be opening for the 2008 Bluesfest West show on Saturday afternoon.   Taterz is a local band that plays Blues, Rock, and Classic Rock.   This band has it's roots in the 60's when Jeff Knudsen, Phil Carufel and Tim Turnbull played together in several local rock bands.  In the late 60's Tim and Chris Carlson played together in a local band named the WARBABIES.   Getting back together in 2003 to jam a new band was formed.  They added bass player Billy Pringle and have just recently added a new female lead singer, Alicia Hegland.  Be sure to check out our web sites for more information on this great group.

Guest Harp Player

Taterz will have Keith Bride as a guest harp player.  You may have heard of Billy Preston being the "fifth Beatle".  Well Keith Bride is the "seventh Tater".  Keith is a very good friend of the band and shows up at a lot of our gigs just to play his harp!  He will be with us at Bluesfest West and we are looking forward to his outstanding harp playing!
